Prevost CC Concept Fittings

Prevost CC Concept (Compact Connection)

The Heavy-Duty Clamping System for Large Diameter Piping

Maximize space and ensure leak-free structural integrity with the Prevost CC Concept (Compact Connection). Designed specifically for the larger diameters of the PPS aluminum pipe range (Ø 50mm, 63mm, 80mm, 100mm, and 160mm), this modular clamping system replaces traditional heavy/bulky steel flanges with a lightweight, high-performance solution.

The “CC Concept” is engineered to allow direct connection between fittings (e.g., connecting a valve directly to an elbow or tee) without needing short pipe nipples or intermediate spacers. This drastically reduces the physical footprint of your compressor room headers and main distribution loops, creating a compact, rigid, and professional installation.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Compact “Fitting-to-Fitting” Assembly: The unique design allows you to bolt two fittings directly together (e.g., Valve + Tee) using the CC clamps, saving significant horizontal and vertical space in tight mechanical rooms.
  • High-Pressure Grip: Utilizes the “PPS Grip Concept”—a stainless steel ring with teeth that bite firmly into the aluminum pipe/fitting grooves—ensuring the connection cannot pull apart even under heavy pressure spikes.
  • Lightweight Durability: Constructed from high-grade aluminum alloy and stainless steel, the CC Concept eliminates the massive weight load associated with traditional iron or steel flanges, reducing stress on ceiling hangers.
  • Visual Safety: The external bolting system provides immediate visual confirmation that the connection is tight and secure.
  • Modular & Reusable: Unlike welded or glued systems, CC connections can be easily unbolted and reconfigured if your plant layout changes.

How to Select & Connect Prevost Air Fittings

A Step-by-Step Guide to Building a Leak-Free System

Building a compressed air system requires two distinct types of connections: the permanent Infrastructure (Pipe & Fittings) and the dynamic Operator Interface (Couplers & Hoses). Prevost offers specialized solutions for both.

Part 1: The Infrastructure (Prevost Piping System – PPS)

The Prevost Piping System (PPS) uses 100% aluminum pipe and a unique “Grip Concept” fitting to create a modular, leak-free ring main.

Step 1: Select Your Fitting Type

Selection depends entirely on the diameter of the pipe you are installing.

  • For Small to Medium Drops (Ø 16mm – 40mm):
    • Selection: Use standard PPS1 Aluminum Fittings. These look like robust composite/aluminum unions.
    • Best For: Drops to workstations, small workshops, and branch lines.
  • For Large Main Headers (Ø 50mm – 100mm):
    • Selection: Use the CC Concept (Connection Clamps). These are compact, split-ring clamps that bolt fittings together.
    • Best For: Compressor rooms, main plant loops, and high-flow headers.

Step 2: How to Connect PPS Pipe

Standard PPS Connection (Ø 16mm – 40mm)

  1. Cut: Cut the aluminum pipe square using a specialized pipe cutter.
  2. Chamfer: Use a deburring tool to chamfer the outside edge. Crucial: This prevents the sharp aluminum edge from slicing the internal O-ring seal.
  3. Mark: Mark the “Insertion Depth” on the pipe with a marker (refer to the fitting guide for depth).
  4. Push: Lubricate the pipe end with soapy water and push it into the fitting until it hits the internal stop.
  5. Tighten: Hand-tighten the nut, then use a Prevost spanner wrench to tighten it fully (usually 1/2 to 1 turn past hand-tight) to engage the stainless steel grip teeth.

CC Concept Connection (Ø 50mm – 160mm)

  1. Position: Place the two components (e.g., a Valve and a Tee) face-to-face.
  2. Seal: Insert the double-lobed CC Concept Seal between the flange faces.
  3. Clamp: Place the split stainless steel clamp halves over the flanges.
  4. Torque: Insert the bolts and tighten them evenly to the specified torque (refer to manual) until the connection is rigid.

Part 2: The Operator Interface (Couplers & Plugs)

Once the pipe is on the wall, you need to connect hoses and tools. This requires selecting the correct “Profile” (shape) to match your existing equipment.

Step 1: Select Your Profile

Visit the prevoS1 Series Couplings page to match your current plugs.

  • Industrial Interchange (Milton M): The most common US profile. Look for the BLUE button.
  • Automotive Interchange (Truflate / Type T): Common in tire shops and garages. Look for the BROWN button.
  • High Flow (Euro / 7.2 / V): Common in paint booths and high-end manufacturing. Look for the GREEN button.
  • ARO 210: Common in older industrial plants. Look for the YELLOW button.

Step 2: How to Connect Couplers

  • Threaded Connections: When screwing a coupler into a wall drop or FRL:
    • Apply Teflon tape or thread sealant to the male threads (unless the fitting has a pre-applied sealant patch).
    • Tighten firmly with a wrench, but do not overtighten, as this can crack the composite body or the FRL port.
  • Hose Connections:
    • Hose Barb: Requires a hose clamp. Push the barb fully into the hose and secure the clamp just behind the barb ridge.
    • Push-Lock: Requires specialized “Push-Lock” hose (no clamp needed).
    • Crimped: The most professional option. Requires a hydraulic crimper and ferrule.

Part 3: Selecting the Right Hose

Not all hoses are equal. Select based on your application at Air Piping Sales – Hoses.

  • For Paint Booths: Select Antistatic / Silicone-Free hose to prevent finish defects.
  • For Impact Tools: Select Rubber (2SN) hose for vibration absorption and durability.
  • For Assembly Lines: Select Polyurethane Spiral hose for memory retention and neatness.

Pro Tip: Always install a prevoS1 Safety Coupling at the end of the hose. Its “One-Push” system vents the air pressure before releasing the tool, eliminating the dangerous “hose whip” that causes most workshop injuries.
