Prevost PPS Aluminum Reducing Union

The Prevost PPS Aluminum Reducing Union is a straight inline connector designed to seamlessly transition a compressed air line from a larger diameter to a smaller one. Whether you are stepping down pipe size to maintain velocity at the end of a long run or connecting two different phases of a system expansion, this fitting ensures a smooth and secure transition.

Eliminating the need for threaded bushings or multiple adapters, this unit provides a direct tube-to-tube connection that preserves laminar flow while significantly reducing installation time and leak potential.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Seamless Diameter Transition: Connects two different pipe sizes (e.g., 50mm to 32mm) directly inline. This streamlines the piping layout by removing the need for bulky threaded reducers.
  • Optimized Flow Dynamics: The internal bore is tapered to smooth the passage of air from the wider to the narrower section, preventing the turbulence and pressure drops often caused by abrupt “step-down” fittings.
  • System Flexibility: Ideal for extending existing networks where a new section requires a different flow rate, or for adapting main headers into localized sub-lines.
  • PPS Grip & Seal Security: Both ends feature the robust stainless steel grip ring and lubricated NBR seal. This ensures that, despite the size difference, the connection remains rigid, leak-proof, and vibration-resistant.
  • Corrosion-Resistant Body: The all-aluminum construction prevents corrosion and ensures the fitting is lightweight enough to not require extra hanging support at the reduction point.

Technical Specifications

  • Part Series: PPS1 R (Reducing Union)
  • Configuration: Straight Reduction (Tube-to-Tube)
  • Material: Aluminum Alloy (Body) / Stainless Steel (Grip Ring)
  • Operating Pressure: Up to 232 PSI (16 bar)
  • Operating Temperature: -4°F to +176°F (-20°C to +80°C)
  • Vacuum Capability: Up to 29″ Hg (-0.98 bar)
  • Fluid Compatibility: Compressed Air, Vacuum, Nitrogen, Inert Gases

Ideal Applications

  • End-of-Run Pressure Maintenance: Reducing pipe diameter towards the end of long headers to maintain air velocity and system pressure.
  • Machine Connection Adaptation: Transitioning from a main distribution line to the specific inlet size of heavy machinery.
  • Network Retrofits: Connecting a new, smaller extension to an existing, larger piping network during facility expansions.
