Prevost Brass Bushing
Precision Thread Adaptation for High-Pressure Systems
The Prevost Brass Bushing is a high-quality reducer fitting designed to adapt a larger female-threaded port to a smaller male-threaded connection. Unlike standard adapters that extend the length of a pipe run, the “hex head” bushing design allows for a low-profile transition, as most of the fitting sits inside the larger port.
Machined from premium industrial brass, these bushings are essential for customizing manifolds, air tanks, and valve blocks where different thread sizes must be integrated into a single, leak-free system.
Key Features
- Low-Profile Reduction: The hex-shaped head allows the bushing to be screwed almost entirely into the female port. This is ideal for tight spaces where a standard coupling or nipple would add too much bulk.
- Corrosion-Resistant Industrial Brass: Naturally resistant to rust and chemical oxidation. It is the preferred material for compressed air systems where moisture and compressor oils are present.
- Precision-Cut Tapered Threads: Available in standard NPT or BSP configurations. The threads are machined to strict tolerances to ensure a “dry seal” that resists leaking even under high vibration.
- Heavy-Duty Hex Head: Features deep, clean-cut wrench flats that allow for the application of high torque. This ensures a deep, permanent seat without rounding the corners of the fitting.
- High-Pressure Rating: Designed to meet industrial safety standards, these bushings can handle the high-pressure spikes common in heavy-duty pneumatic and hydraulic applications.
Technical Specifications

Common Applications
- Manifold Customization: Reducing a large 1/2 inch manifold port down to 1/4 inch to accept a standard air hose or pressure gauge.
- Compressor Tank Ports: Adapting large tank outlets to fit smaller safety valves, drain cocks, or pressure switches.
- Tool Adaptation: Fitting a small-diameter air tool inlet into a larger-diameter hose assembly.
- FRL Installation: Integrating filters, regulators, and lubricators into existing pipework with mismatched thread sizes.
Installation Pro Tip
To ensure an airtight seal, apply a small amount of thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads of the bushing before installing it into the port. Because brass is a “soft” metal, it provides an excellent mechanical seal, but the addition of sealant ensures a 100 percent gas-tight connection even at maximum operating pressures.
